Plastic packaging films, optical plastic films, and release base films are widely used in packaging, optical, and lithium battery industries. During film production, problems such as membrane surface adhesion, difficulty in separation during winding, static electricity generation due to high-speed stretching, and surface abrasion often occur. Various smooth-modified silicone oils have become the mainstream functional additives in film production, optimizing the surface properties of the films and improving the post-processing performance.
For BOPP and PE food packaging films, adding a trace amount of smooth silicone oil during production results in a uniform lubricating layer on the film surface, reducing the friction coefficient between the films, preventing adhesion during winding, facilitating smooth opening during bag-making and printing processes, and reducing film tearing losses. For optical PET films, high transparency modified silicone oil is selected, which does not cause haze and ensures light transmission performance. At the same time, it improves the smoothness of the roll material and reduces surface scratches during high-speed cutting, meeting the high-standard appearance requirements of optical films.
In the production of lithium battery separator substrates and plastic release base films, controllable migration silicone oil precisely regulates the surface wetting characteristics, balancing smoothness and subsequent coating adhesion, avoiding excessive release agent precipitation leading to coating detachment. Compared with common fatty amide type release agents, silicone oil has better temperature resistance, does not fail easily in high-temperature curing environments, and is suitable for functional films requiring high-temperature post-processing.
Manufacturers can choose either internal addition type or surface coating type silicone oil based on the film application. Internal added silicone oil is uniformly dispersed in the resin and has long-lasting effects; surface coated silicone oil has a lower dosage and is suitable for high-end films with strict restrictions on the internal composition of the substrate. Environmentally friendly, halogen-free, and low-extraction silicone oils are increasingly favored by film manufacturers. With the growth in demand for flexible packaging and new energy film materials, the market size of smooth silicone oil is steadily expanding, continuously enabling the plastic film industry to improve quality and efficiency.
