As one of the core categories of silicone defoamers, silicone oil solution defoamers dissolve polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) in a specific organic solvent to form a homogeneous transparent liquid. Their technical characteristics are mainly reflected in the following dimensions:
1、 Excellent defoaming kinetics performance
By highly dispersing silicone oil molecules in the solvent, they can quickly migrate to the gas-liquid interface, reducing the local surface tension from 72mN/m to 21mN/m (typical value for aqueous systems). This characteristic enables it to achieve rapid bubble breaking response within 300ms even in high-pressure environments such as papermaking, pulp making, and petroleum cracking. The experiment shows that more than 90% of dynamic foam can be eliminated with the addition of 10ppm, and the foam suppression duration can reach more than 72 hours.
2、 Strong ability to withstand high and low temperatures
Silicone oil solution defoamer has the characteristic of high temperature resistance, and can maintain stable defoaming effect under high temperature conditions. Its overall performance is not easy to decompose or fail.
3、 It can adapt to different usage systems, and its solvent can be adjusted according to different systems, with strong adaptability:
If it is an oily system, using toluene or xylene as solvents, the compatibility with mineral oil and lubricating oil meets the standard; If the water-based system is modified with hydrophilic solvents such as ethylene glycol and glycerol, it can be stably dispersed within the pH range of 2 to 14; When encountering special systems, such as environments with strong oxidants (such as hydrogen peroxide bleaching), formulations containing fluorinated solvents can adapt.
Good compatibility with multiple liquids
Silicone oil solution defoamer has good compatibility with various liquids, without phase separation and precipitation, making it more convenient and simple to use.
