Analysis of the Differences between Hydroxyl Silicone Oil and Methyl Silicone Oil

Hydroxyl silicone oil is a colorless and transparent liquid, possessing excellent electrical insulation properties and resistance to high and low temperatures. It has a high flash point and a low freezing point, allowing for long-term use under conditions ranging from -50ºC to +250ºC. It exhibits a low viscosity-temperature coefficient, high compressibility, low surface tension, good water repellency and moisture resistance, chemical inertness, and physiological inertness.
Methyl silicone oil is colorless, odorless, and non-volatile; it is insoluble in water, methanol, and ethylene glycol, but miscible with benzene, dimethyl ether, methyl ethyl ketone, carbon tetrachloride, or kerosene. It has a very low vapor pressure, a relatively high flash point, and a high ignition point. Methyl silicone oil exhibits excellent heat resistance, electrical insulation properties, weather resistance, hydrophobicity, physiological inertness, and low surface tension. It also has a low viscosity-temperature coefficient and high compressive resistance.

Purpose:
1. Used as insulation, lubrication, shockproof, dustproof oil, dielectric fluid, and heat carrier.
2. Used as an additive for defoaming, demolding, paints, and daily cosmetics.
3. Used for treating sewing threads to increase lubrication, ensuring they won't break on high-speed sewing machines.
4. Used for softening fabric, enhancing its lubricity, and improving its smoothness, fullness, and elasticity.

Methyl silicone oil is widely used in various fields such as electronics and electrical appliances, building materials, motor manufacturing, transportation, petrochemical industry, textiles, printing and dyeing, thread production, post-finishing of various polyester and polyester-cotton, polyester-rayon textiles to enhance their smoothness, stiffness, and elasticity, as well as in medicine and healthcare, aviation research, and military technology.
