Basic information of silicone oil
Silicone oil is a special oily liquid mainly composed of silicon carbon bonds and silicon oxygen silicon bonds.
Silicon carbon bonds endow silicone oil with surface activity, hydrophobicity, defoaming properties, and demolding properties.
Silicon oxygen silicon bond endows stable inertness and electrical properties

Silicone oil is divided into two types:
Inert silicone oil, as an additive, we usually utilize its physical properties. Common ones include methyl silicone oil, phenyl silicone oil, and trifluoropropyl silicone oil.
Reactive silicone oil, involved in chemical reactions during use, hydroxyl silicone oil, ethylene silicone oil, hydrogen containing silicone oil, amino silicone oil, carboxyl silicone oil.

The application of silicone oil in cosmetics

1. It forms a layer of waterproof and breathable protection on the skin surface, and has a light luster, which can be used for waterproof addition of liquid foundation.
2. UV protection, often added to sunscreen, will not oxidize, deteriorate or irritate the skin due to UV rays.
3. Very good anti-static ability, the static electricity disappears when applied to the skin surface, and the dust removal effect is good.
4. It is compatible with many ingredients in cosmetics and can reduce stickiness. It can be used as a co solvent and solid dispersant. It is added in refreshing cream, facial cleanser, lotion, make-up water and color makeup.
5. Fragrances have a slow-release and fragrance stabilizing effect, extending the fragrance retention period, and can be added to perfumes.

Common silicone oils added to cosmetics include
Polydimethylsiloxane - with good combing properties, mainly used in shampoo and hair care 2-in-1, shampoo
------Ground surface tension, high surface activity, easy to spread out
------Hydrophobic, forming a hydrophobic breathable protective film on the skin surface, in cosmetics with high water resistance
Polymethylphenylsiloxane - Good compatibility, mainly used in moisturizers and lipsticks
Cyclodimethylsiloxane - volatile, mainly used in antiperspirants and refreshing water
Polyether siloxane copolymer - self emulsifying and hydrophilic, mainly used in hair conditioners and shampoos
It has been added to a large number of cosmetics and has been proven to be a non corrosive, non-toxic, and odorless safe substance.
