Introduction to Silicone Resin

Hits: 339 img

Silicone resin is a thermosetting polyorganosiloxane with a highly cross-linked structure. Compared with other organic resins, it has excellent heat resistance, cold resistance, weather resistance, electrical insulation, hydrophobicity, and anti-sticking and release properties. Therefore, it is widely used as high and low temperature resistant insulating paint, heat-resistant coating, weather-resistant coating, ablation-resistant coating, and high and low temperature resistant, electrically insulating molding plastics.
Silicone resin is generally prepared by hydrolysis and polycondensation of organochlorosilane mixtures or organoethoxysilane in mixed solvents. Its curing process is to transform it into a three-dimensional network structure, insoluble and infusible thermosetting resin under heating or with the action of a catalyst.
The types of silicone resins mainly include methyl phenyl silicone resin, methyl silicone resin, low phenyl methyl silicone resin, silicone resin emulsion, self-drying silicone resin, high temperature silicone resin, epoxy-modified silicone resin, silicone polyester modified resin, self-drying environmental protection silicone resin, environmental protection silicone resin, non-stick coating silicone resin, high gloss silicone resin, benzyl transparent silicone resin, methyl transparent silicone resin, mica bonding silicone resin, polymethyl silicone resin, amino silicone resin, fluorosilicone resin, silicone resin solution, organosilicon-epoxy resin, organosilicon polyester resin, solvent-resistant silicone resin, silicone resin adhesive, fluorosilicone resin silicone resin sealant, high temperature resistant methyl silicone resin, self-drying silicone insulating paint, methyl MQ silicone resin, vinyl MQ silicone resin, and silicone acrylic resin coating.
In general, various mixtures of methyltrichlorosilane, dimethyldichlorosilane, phenyltrichlorosilane, diphenyldichlorosilane or methyldichlorosilane are hydrolyzed with water in the presence of an organic solvent such as toluene at a relatively low temperature to obtain acidic hydrolysates. The initial hydrolysis products are mixtures of cyclic, linear, and cross-linked polymers, usually containing a considerable amount of hydroxyl groups. The hydrolysate is washed with water to remove acid, and the neutral initial polycondensate is further polycondensed by thermal oxidation in the air or in the presence of a catalyst, and finally forms a highly cross-linked three-dimensional network structure.
