Wacker showcased selected silicone products for the beauty and care sectors at the International Cosmetic Ingredients Show 2024, and for the first time introduced a formula for leave-in care products.

When preparing two silicone elastomer gels, BELSIL EG3000 and BELSIL eco EG3001, WACKER replaced siloxan-based solvents with organic substances commonly found in the cosmetics industry. BELSIL® EG 3000 contains an isocetane solvent, and BELSIL®eco EG 3001, formulated with a mixture of undecane and tridecane, also won the PCHi Fountain Award for Sustainable Products 2024. Isocetane is biodegradable in a limited manner, while undecane and tridecane are completely biodegradable in the natural environment. Multiple laboratory tests have shown that these new gels perform as well as siloxane-based products.

BELSIL®eco EG 3001 also has the advantage of being made from renewable sources: siloxanes are produced from 100% plant-based methanol, using the same soluble from recycled raw materials. BELSIL®eco EG 3001 is a resource-efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to silicone elastomer gels based on petrochemical feedstocks.
