At the beginning of the 2019 New Year, OEKO-TEX has updated the STANDARD 100 standard as usual, and the new regulations will take effect on April 1, 2019, after a three-month transition period.

First, important updates:

1. Substance benzene is added to “Other Chemical Residues” and is applicable to all product categories. Quinoline, which has been monitored by OEKO-TEX® since 2018, has a limit value of <50 mg/kg; exceptions, four A new amine salt is added to the carcinogenic aromatic amine species.

2. In the "standardization" process required by the limit value, the "<" requirement is currently applicable to the limited amount.

Second, other substances added in the standard catalog:

1. "Extractable heavy metals" added:

钡 < 1000mg/kg (all product categories); selenium <100mg/kg (all product categories).

2. "Other chemical residues" added:

Azodicarbonamide (ADCA) <0.1% (1000 mg/kg for all product categories).

Azodicarbonamide (ADCA) is mainly used as a foaming agent in the production of foams, thermoplastics, and epoxy resins.

3. The newly added limiting factor "silicone":

The siloxanes D4, D5 and D6 <1000% (1000 mg/kg all product categories) which have just been added to the REACH SVHC.

As is currently known, silicones may be associated with silicone, silicone oil finishing, silicone coatings, silicone printing, softener-related trimming, and the like.

4. Newly added dimethyl phthalate under the category of “plasticizers”.

5. On the basis of short-chain chlorinated paraffins that have been controlled by STANDARD 100 for many years, medium-chain chlorinated paraffins have also been added to the controlled range. Two types of restricted substances have been included in the new limiting factor. Under Paraffin, the limit value specifies the total amount of short-chain and medium-chain chlorinated paraffins <50 mg/kg for all categories of products.

Third, the new monitored substances:

Glyphosate and its salts.

Carcinogenic nitrosamines and nitroso substances.

Glyphosate products, the main ingredients of current herbicides, received a lot of media attention during 2017 and 2018 and sparked controversial debates around the world. With the “monitored” action, the OEKO-TEX® Association is more concerned with the application of this group of substances in related materials and will analyse its situation in more detail.

Fourth, the limit value of the color control:

1. Formaldehyde, volatile and releasable (Appendix 4 and Appendix 6):

The third category: <150 mg/kg (formerly 300 mg/kg).

2, aniline (cleavable and volatile):

Appendix 4: Class 1 products <20 mg/kg (formerly 100 mg/kg); Class 2 to 4 products <50 mg/kg (formerly 100 mg/kg).

Appendix 6: All categories of products <20 mg/kg (formerly 100 mg/kg).

3. Trichloroethyl phosphate TCEP:

Appendix 4: All product categories <10 mg/kg (formerly 1000 mg/kg).

Appendix 6: All product categories <10 mg/kg (formerly 10 mg/kg).

4. Appendix 4, Solvent Residues (NMP, DMAc and DMF):

The limit value requirements are the same as the limit values in Appendix 6.

5. Flame retardants (Appendix 4 and Appendix 6):

New addition of disodium octaborate and medium chain chlorinated paraffins, while limiting the limit to: <10 mg/kg for each individual substance; total amount of short-chain and medium-chain chlorinated paraffins < 50 mg/kg; The total amount is < 50 mg/kg.

6. The limit values for plasticizers, perfluorocarbons and APEO (AP) substances in Appendix 6 are reduced. More stringent control can minimize the impact of these substances on the environment and human health. See the list in Appendix 6 for the values.

7. The transition period for the application of “Other Volatile Organic Compounds and Aliphatic Glycols” in the appendix of professional accessories and small parts in Appendix 6 is delayed until March 31, 2020.
