The center console, door panels and instrument covers of cars are mostly made of ABS and PP plastics. Long-term exposure to sunlight can easily cause aging, discoloration and cracking. The interior-specific topcoat with added amino silicone oil addresses the durability issues of the interior from the coating formulation level. It is widely used in the original factory spraying process of vehicle interior components.
After the coating dries, the silicone oil is distributed on the surface of the paint film, forming an anti-ultraviolet protection layer. It blocks the short-wave ultraviolet rays in the sunlight from damaging the molecular structure of the plastic, delaying the fading and brittleness of the interior. At the same time, it reduces the surface friction coefficient, making the interior plastic feel smooth and fine, and not prone to accumulate fingerprints or dust. Daily cleaning is simple. The silane-modified silicone oil, as a coating adhesion promoter, links the plastic substrate and the topcoat like a molecular primer, linking the plastic substrate and the topcoat. In the summer, at a temperature of 60°C in the car, the coating does not blister or fall off.
The actual measurement data shows that the interior plastic without silicone oil cracks and turns white after being exposed to the sun for 500 hours. Under the same test conditions with the amino silicone oil-coated interior components, the appearance shows no significant change. Water-based silicone oil interior coatings have low odor and low volatility, meeting the air quality control standards for new energy vehicles, and solving the problem of pungent odors in new cars.
Currently, domestic interior component factories are gradually phasing out traditional silicone-free coatings. Hygrophilic modified environmentally friendly silicone oil has become the mainstream raw material. The IOTA interior-specific silicone oil, with its low yellowing characteristics, is suitable for spraying on light-colored interior surfaces. The order scale continues to expand.
