Skin care products rely on silicone oil to create a refreshing and moisturizing experience. Creams, body lotions, and sunscreens add low-viscosity silicone oil, which spreads quickly upon application, forming a thin and breathable moisturizing film on the skin surface, reducing water loss, and alleviating dryness and peeling of the skin in winter. Compared with thick plant oils, the skin feels refreshing and not prone to acne. Silicone oil in sunscreen products improves the film formation speed and enhances waterproof and sweat resistance, making it less likely to smudge during outdoor activities for a long time.

The makeup formula highly relies on silicone oil to stabilize the texture. Foundation liquids and concealers rely on silicone oil to enhance the extensibility of powder particles, avoiding powder caking and clumping; lipsticks and lip glosses add silicone oil to improve the smoothness of the paste, reducing lip dryness; eye shadows and mascara use hydrophobicity to achieve waterproof and smudge-proof effects, extending the makeup retention time.

With the upgrade of environmental protection control by the EU's REACH regulation, low-ring-body cosmetic-grade silicone oil has become the mainstream in the industry. The domestic IOTA series cosmetic-grade silicone oil strictly controls the residual of D4/D5 small molecules, and is suitable for domestic beauty products' overseas orders. Industry data shows that the demand for silicone oil in the hair care category accounts for 65% of the total cosmetic usage. The research and development of hydrophilic-modified silicone oil is accelerating, balancing the smoothness effect and the ease of rinsing requirements, further expanding the application space in the cosmetics industry.
