Breakthrough in High-End Phenolic Silicone Oil Technology

With the upgrading of LED, flexible displays, and ultra-high voltage electronics industries, the shortcomings of ordinary dimethyl silicone oil in terms of high-temperature resistance and refractive index have become prominent. Special silicone oils such as methyl phenyl silicone oil and hydrogen-terminated phenyl polysiloxane (IOTA-250-30, IOTA-233) have witnessed a market explosion, thanks to their three major differentiation advantages of high temperature resistance, high refractive index, and strong insulation, breaking the long-term monopoly of overseas material enterprises.

The upper limit of temperature resistance for ordinary silicone oil is approximately 180℃, while phenyl silicone oil, through modification of the phenyl group, can be used at temperatures above 250℃ for long-term use, significantly improving thermal oxidation stability and being suitable for high-temperature electronic encapsulation and aviation lubrication scenarios. At the same time, the refractive index has been increased to 1.48-1.62, much higher than that of ordinary silicone oil (1.41), and is applied in LED COB packaging, increasing light efficiency by 27% and reducing energy consumption by one-third. It has now become the standard packaging material for domestic lighting factories.

From a core function perspective, phenyl silicone oil retains the basic lubricating, hydrophobic, and insulating properties of silicone oil, while optimizing compatibility with organic resins and optical substrates, without fogging or small molecule migration, and is suitable for VR optical lenses and flexible screen encapsulation. In the power industry, IOTA-R32 methyl phenyl hydroxyl silicone oil is used as high-temperature insulating oil. After being impregnated in ultra-high voltage transformers and capacitors, the insulation life is doubled, and the low metal ion residue indicators meet the strict standards of electronic precision manufacturing.

Domestic raw material enterprises such as Anhui Aiyotai have achieved series production of phenyl silicone oil, covering three major tracks of lubrication, optics, and insulation. Their products are benchmarked against international first-line brands, with significant price advantages. The domestic market size of high-end phenyl silicone oil in 2025 is 128.5 million yuan, and it is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 4.26% in 2030. The demand for special silicone oil will continue to increase due to the continuous growth of the new energy electronics and optical display industries.
