For a long time, the European Union has not only provided financial support for commercial power stations through the European investment bank, but also improved Europe's advanced position in the field of solar thermal power generation through research and development projects. The short-term target of solar thermal power generation proposed by the European Union is: by 2020, the cost is more than 40% lower than that in 2013, which corresponds to the target price of power purchase agreement (PPA) & lt; 10 euro cents / kWh (the conditions in southern Europe, solar radiation conditions 2050 kWh / m2 / year, 25-year PPA validity period). 18 industry organizations and enterprises in Europe and 16 research centers have discussed that the research and development of slot photothermal power generation technology with silicon oil as heat transfer medium has a significant role in promoting the realization of the goal, and the research and development priority is ranked second, next to improving the technical performance of molten salt tower power generation. It is believed that silicon oil, as a heat transfer fluid, is expected to increase the working temperature of the collector field of the solar cell photothermal power station. At the same time, compared with the fluid used in the current commercial tank power station, the silicone oil medium is harmless to the environment in case of leakage. The lower limit of the operating temperature of silicone oil is - 40 ℃, which is suitable for the areas with low climate temperature. At the same time, the upper limit of the temperature is 430 ℃, which is more than 30K higher than the current synthetic oil. This additional temperature distribution between the inlet and outlet of the collector field will result in higher enthalpy output of the mirror field energy and higher system efficiency of the generator module side. The use of silicone oil can significantly reduce the cost of mirror field and power generation cost of the system by combining innovative, optimized large collector with higher concentration ratio, higher optical and thermal efficiency. The European team proposed to build a pre commercial demonstration system with at least two complete circuits to demonstrate the slot photothermal power generation technology with silicone oil as the heat transfer medium, demonstrating and verifying all sub components, such as concentrators, mirrors, heat absorbers, valves, heat exchangers and steam generators. At the end of the project, the R & D results can answer all open questions about the performance and durability of all relevant components of the system, so as to realize the financing ability.
Expected output of the project:
-Construction of at least 2 circuits of full size trough type heat collectors including oil / salt heat exchangers and steam generators;
-Long term operation to determine durability issues;
-Evaluate the performance of collector and its sub components;
-The solar energy flow and heat transfer of the absorber are analyzed to identify the highest film temperature in the fluid;
-Heat transfer fluid composition analysis and durability verification, chemical stability in the process of commercial power plant operation;
-Optimize the (oil / salt) heat exchanger at 430 ° C and transient conditions.

In 2016, Longteng solar thermal Co., Ltd. and wacker Chemical Co., Ltd. jointly carried out a new generation of heat transfer oil trough type heat collection system demonstration project, replacing the heat transfer oil in a 600m standard trough type heat collection circuit with silicone oil, and the transformed system entered a long-term high temperature operation state of 425 ℃, successfully achieving a global leading breakthrough in the heat transfer oil system from 390 ℃ to 425 ℃. In September 2017, the system won the "solarpares 2017 Technology Innovation Award" issued by the International Energy Agency solar thermal power generation and chemical energy organization. On this basis, the second phase of China's large-scale renewable energy development project supports the "key technology research and development of trough solar high-temperature collector based on silicon oil medium". The project focuses on the selection of absorption coating technology for 430 ℃ collector tube, optimization technology of collector tube related structure, vacuum acquisition and long-life maintenance technology. Through technical upgrading, it can meet the technical requirements of high temperature, high pressure, vacuum acquisition and long-life maintenance and structural reliability of the collector tube in the silicon oil power station. On the basis of technical reserves, the first batch of national solar thermal power generation demonstration projects - Yumen Longteng new energy heat transfer oil trough type 50000 kW solar thermal power generation project is being actively promoted. The project covers an area of about 2.7 square kilometers, with 200 sets of heat collection circuits to be built and 10 hours of heat storage devices. A new type of silicone oil is used as heat transfer fluid, and its operating temperature range is - 40 ℃ ~ 425 ℃. After the completion of the project, it will become the first silicon oil tank type photothermal power station in the world.
